Default Help choose my next book

I need some more poker books but I have no idea what to get. I have HOH 1-2, NLHTAP, SS2, and TOP. I was thinking of getting Ace on the River, Psychology of Poker, HFAP,or TPFAP.

I play both cash games and SNGs with the ocasional MTT. Any suggestions what my next book should be?

I was under the impression that TPFAP has been outdated by HOH 1-3.

HPFAP would probably be the best of the books you listed. You may also want to consider Improve Your Poker by Ciaffone and Real Poker II by Cooke.

Not for limit tournaments, the book is still relevant and a great read.

I found The Psychology of Poker worthless (if you have the requisite lack of self-awareness for it to be relevant, you're dead at poker anyway). If you must go for prescriptive style stuff, maybe The Poker Tournament Formula.

I thought the psychology of poker was okay, not great, but worth a read. I think it helped solidify and clarify a few ideas that i was aware of but not super clear on. Don't expect it to be a gold mine of knowledge, but like i said, worth a read.

So TPFAP is a limit book? or does it just have a little limit sections?

I will probably not get The Psychology of Poker. I have heard other people tell me it really doesn't have much psychology on the game.

TPFAP is Sklansky's theories about how to play tournaments. If you're interested in poker as a subject rather than a job, it's a good book, Chris Ferguson's favourite 2+2 book. Practically, The Poker Tournament Formula would be far more useful.

There arent many truly great books around ... the best from the the 2+2 library is (of those you do not already own, TOP being the other of my two favorites)

Seven Card Stud for advanced players (awesome book)

And to be fair and mention non 2+2 books then

Rolf Slotsboom Omaha Book is a nice read imo.

And

The Mathematics of Poker by Chen and Ankenman if you like the heavy theoretical stuff.

That is what I would recommend.
