Would you slow play this instead by checking/calling ?

I bet out on the flop because a check from you here would look bizarre and it will probably get checked through unless someone already has the flush.

If the spade comes on the turn, I check/raise. Villain will bet the turn to your check 9 times out of 10 because your check says you fear the flush.

Sometimes, if I hold my breath too long I see spots and my head hurts and I fall over. Should I keep holding my breath in this situation or breath?

I bet out on the flop -
and check/raise the turn if a spade hits? If he's got a spade, he might call you down and you'll win 3BB this way.

Is this line no good?

I bet out on the flop like you did. At this limit, too many people call w/ beaten hands that I'm not risking missing any value bets.

Even HU I bet this although that's just my style. If you were heads up, you could make a case for taking one off on the flop.
