If Tiger finishes top ten here and wins the PGA he is POTY based on Major performance alone.

Assuming Stricker finishes out at 64 or so how would that compare to Casey's round at Oakmont?

Garcia is a run away train and nobody has the hand on the break to stop him.

There are too much expectations for Tiger. He can't be in contention at every major

[/ QUOTE ]

Why not? Last four majors: 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd.

Cuz' maybe in the past there have been majors where he hasn't been in contention? He doesn't seem to be in realistic contention here either. It was a valiant effort, but he brought his C-game to Carnoustie, while Sergio's play has been top notch. Looks like he's going to go wire-to-wire, hopefully he spits in the cup for the trophy presentation.

Deft touch by The Mechanic out of the greenside bunker.

Edit to say: Not so deft touch by The Mechanic out of the fairway bunker.

Hats off to Sergio so far. If he avoids a meltdown on the last 4 holes today he will probably end up out of reach of Tiger, Cabrera, Rose, Singh etc.

If he gets it to -10 or -11 he will make it either a two man race or an epic meltdown.

I really thought he woud melt down today, but he may end up playing so good that he can shoot over par on Sunday and still win.

Sergio just blasted somebody in the head, and saved par.

Also, did you see the guy who almost stepped right on Garcia's ball? The announcers missed it, but GArcia stared at him for a few seconds after he went by. I wonder what the ruling would be there if a spectator had smashed the ball into the rough or kicked it?

Basic Rules of Golf question any semi-regular golfer should know. Take a quick peek at your copy, good stuff to know.

In my opinion, the R&A has set up Carnoustie too easy this time. The winning score is going to be well under par, as opposed to around level par where it should be on this type of course.

Very gay that you alluded to the rule but didn't tell him. I hate that quality in a person.

I didn't know the rule, so I looked it up.

Rule 18-1. Ball moved by Outside Agency
If a ball at rest is moved by an outside agency, there is no penalty and the ball must be replaced.
