Just get them taken out. You're just looking for an excuse to be cheap.

I waited too long with my, and a couple of my front teeth slowly got crowded. It'll probably cost a lot if I ever get them straightened.

i currently have a retainer on my bottom teeth and took about 3 months to fix cause wisdom teeth crumbled the front ones

[/ QUOTE ]

What does this mean? Your teeth actually broke apart due to the pressure?

OP,

I had mine taken out because they were causing me pain every few weeks or so. fwiw if my dentist had told me to get them out (even if I had no pain) to avoid problems later, I would of got them removed.

You should go see an oral and maxiofacial surgeon.

wisdom teeth removal is kind of like preventative surgery. you're better off getting them out now when they're not a problem and when you're young. it's not a big deal.

If you got the wisdom teeth surgery right now, it wouldn't really hurt much at all. However, if you wait till they become a problem, it'll be hurt like a mother. So, if you're going to have to get them removed eventually anyways, might as well do it when it won't hurt, and then won't need to worry about them.

My dentist gave me the same advice in a very similar situation about my wisdom teeth (age 22). I know him personally and he isn't trying to make an extra buck (as he would just refer me to an oral surgeon anyway).

Options:

1. Take them out now.

2. Take your chances and down the road when you have problems and pain have them taken out.

If you're unsure you should get the second opinion. If you have them taken out INSIST on some industrial strength pain killers. The first set I had taken out the dentist gave me super-aspirin. Oh, was that bad! Second set he said it was ok for me to take some of my fathers' leftover kidney stone morphine pills. Much better. You won't get those but INSIST on something strong.
