Windows XP problem...driving me CRAZY!
EVERY time I restart my computer I get a popup from windows called "scan." I try canceling it at least 50x, but it keeps coming back! In fact I can't stop it by cancelling it. I finally let it do it's thing and then get prompted, "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Scan' disk and click OK.
I also have a drop down menu and above it says, Use source: 1. Can anybody tell me WTF is going on and how I can stop it...pleeeease! While I'm here, does anyone know why my clock is always one hour behind when I restart? I'm running a scan w/ Kapersky now |

Re: Windows XP problem...driving me CRAZY!
Did you put the wrong time zone on the clock or the wrong day light savings option?
It sounds like you are just shutting off the power to your machine instead of shutting it down properly. |

No, I have the correct time zone. This happens whenever my computer restarts whether it has frozen and I need a hard boot or when I shut it down normally. The biggest problem, however is that damn scan that won't go away

Re: Windows XP problem...driving me CRAZY!
Have you updated Windows since the DST (Daylight Savings Time) change a few months back? That would explaing exactly why you are one hour off.
It may also go far in explaining why you are getting this weird pop-up window - perhaps and exploit was closed long ago that you haven't ran the update to? Is this window popping up after you log into Windows? |

*Also, there is a command you can run from the run prompt "sfc /scannow" that might prompt you for and Windows XP disc, the way this pop up is prompting you.
I would go to the run command and type "msconfig". On the startup tab in the window that pops up, look for anything referencing a scan and uncheck it. |

Re: Windows XP problem...driving me CRAZY!
Yes I've updated since then. It turns out that the error was caused by my HP PSC(don't know model number) printer. I removed the software, then re-installed and everything is alright now...for now. The clock is still an issue, but I am giving up on that lol
