Default 3--K9o Open All-In.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (6 handed)

My effective M is about 2.3. I know you don't use M around here, but I don't know why. (Anywhere I can brush up on the BB vs M thing? How does it take antes into account?)

Time to make a move w/ K9 or would you hang on for something better?

Hero (t2190)
Button (t1490)
SB (t1030)
BB (t3015)
UTG (t2720)
MP (t4555)

Preflop: Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Setting all 3 players to follow as level 3 on SNGPT, this shows as a push - the key being the antes, which give you in total a stack increase of 20% if no one calls.

BTW, you have 15000 chips in play. With Pokerstars, shouldnt in only be 13.5k?

Hi. Not sure what you mean by that jargon. Is there some calculator/formula/guideline for this?

10 seats at PokerStars SnGs, at least at this game and level.

Here's another one I did that I wasn't sure about. I'm trying to get a feel for when these PF All-Ins are appropriate. What guidelines do most people go by? Is there some reference or book for guidance? I have HOH 1, 2 & 3 but I was advised SnGs players don't like to use "M."

H2. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (9 handed)

SB (t2599)
BB (t892)
UTG (t1485)
UTG+1 (t1714)
MP1 (t1828)
MP2 (t2330)
MP3 (t1720)
Hero (t1147)
Button (t1285)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Assuming no antes, fold. w/ 10xBB and the wide ranges you're likely to be up against at the $3 games, shoving K9o from the CO is no good. I'd probably shove ATs+, 66+ here.

With antes, it's still not a shove. I'd only open up to like 55+, A7+, KQs+ then.

Tom, look at the sticky thread at the top of this forum, that has a link to all the useful software you can use, and look to download the free trials of SNGPT or SNGwiz and play around with these to see what you can open shove and when.

This is awful aswell, sorry. Generally, we go by the "10xBB rule". Where roughly if you're around 10xBB then you should be pushing all-in as apposed to standard raising, so you got that bit OK. However, it's all about using ICM (and programs such as SNGwiz or SNGPT do this calculation for us) to gauge how profitable (in terms of EV, expected value) it is to open push from different positions, against different call ranges, with different range of hands.

Sounds complicated but you'll soon get the hang of it and in a month or two thing WTF I pushed this?!

FWIW I'd be shoving 77+, AJ+ from this spot probably, cos we are by no means desperate for these chips and pushing J9o into 3 players, who are likely gunna call you pretty wide is like suicide here.

Hi. Sounds good. I read thru the sticky but must have read too fast because I missed the part about SNGPT and SNGwiz. I'll pick them up.

I dunno, but using the free trial you can't import hands anyway just have to tap them in yourself. I guess going for the 30 day free trial of SNGWiz is your best bet here. Make use of it.

DaN, what are your reasons for not pushing in the 1st example? SNGPT has it @ +0.5% EV (using level 3 for all 3 to follow) - and I dont think they would all play the loose in reality so you could argue that it would be considerably more +Ev.

The only argument for not pushing would be that bigger +EV opportunities would lie ahead for us.

Am I missing something?
