Default College summer internship: ibanks and hedge funds

I'm an Engineering/Econ major in 3rd year and have decided that finance seems a lot more exciting.

I'm looking to apply for internships in the Chicago area and have made the following list. I looked through a ton of bank's web sites and found these that offer summer internships. I post this so others in my situation can benefit and also so anyone with knowledge can add to it, especially in the hedge fund section.

I know there is always a lot of talk about discussing poker. I'm not including it in my resume but will most likely bring it up if I feel it'd be a good example to show something like working under pressure or for long/weird hours.

Investment Banks

Giuliani Capital Advisors
Houlihan Lokey

BMO Capital Markets
Bank of America

Hedge Funds

Grosvenor Capital Management?

most of the big banks have almost all of their interns in nyc (except a few asset management kids)

citadel hires good people and pays a lot, but is known for being pretty ruthless.

Good point, I didn't even check if the biggest ones offered internships in CHI

Looks like Goldman and Morgan Stanley are not in Chicago

I have an interview for summer analyst position with JP Morgan at 9 am. I can tell you what type of questions they asked if you want.

probs too late, but gl ahnuld. also when they ask 'do you have any questions?' at the end, well one question should be 'why didn't you accept the best poker player in the world john kane into your london office for graduate trading?'. they will answer (if they phone london to see if they still had my feedback) 'he knew dick all about trading'.

anyways, gl all.

Chisness, youre way behind the 8ball here. Its good that youve selected banks to look at but most are interviewing right now or are gearing up to do so.

8 of your investment banks are already in the interview process or have extended offers to summers and are no longer hiring.

If you get an interview at JP Morgan, you need to prep a ton, especially on DFC, comps. and capital structures.

Yeah, that's the sad part about this

I had this idea in Dec. but kinda didn't take it too seriously and figured I'd just play poker again, then my dad was like you should really try to figure that out

I guess at minimum I'll have some work already done for next year
