Does the Monster Promo mean we arent getting a VIP promo at PP?

The Monster offer seems like a counter to PokerStars' $2.5mil freeroll if nothing more. We will see.

stars just started the $2.5 million thing yesterday.
There is zero chance that Party put together this scheme the very next day as a response to that.

Additionally, the PokerStars structure is much closer to 'free' (10 FPP's per entry) and much more closely resembles the Paradise or UB $1-million freerolls that they had (except that Stars structure is a little bit better imo).


There is no additional rake on their tables for their 2.5 promo which makes it very different from the Party monster promotion.
There is also no accompanying annoying animation on the Stars promotion.


I'll have to read more about the Monster promo to figure it out a bit. But it just seems like super-rake being converted into some biggish tourneys to fleece their real-money (especially lower stakes) players.

Stars is putting lots of money into a big pool with very few FPP's required to qualify. They are not fleecing their real-money players in the least as you can simply choose to not play the round 1's of the freeroll if it doesn't appeal to you.

they are very much just trying to give more of their play-money players an additional reason to switch to real-money (so they can earn 10 FPP's to play in another tourney).

But, most importantly, all of the other ring-games and tournaments aren't affected at all in the Stars structure.
