Did you have to sign anything when they gave you the scholarship? I am having trouble beliving there's a paragraph in the contract that says you have to send thank you notes or you will have your funding withheld.

I was on scholarship all through high-school-equivalent and never had anything like this. It probably helps that this is in the UK and the guy who donated had died 100 years ago though...
