Yeah just don't upgrade until the new unlocks are released. Apple does not force the update.

If anyone hasn't upgraded to the new firmware, I would definitely hold off. I am running Itunes 7.3 with updates turned off and the old firmware. I have no issues at all and I can't imagine going back to a locked phone. Ibrickr is amazingly easy to use even for the computer novice. The third party software is amazingly advanced for the short period it has been around and the apptap program automatically installs programs and updates automatically.

Locked iPhone B-, unlocked A+.

Instant messaging, NES emulator, custom themes, voice recorder, Tap Tap Revolution, get free internet on your laptop when traveling (no you cant play poker over EDGE)..just a few of things I wouldn't want leave behind.

wow. are you on cingular or tmo?

Cingular, I wouldnt mess with the hardware part of it personally. The apptapp program is really amazing and makes it very simple for the noob to dl and install any program, about 5 new programs available every day.

can somebody who has unlocked their own phone pm me please? i'll ship you $20 for your trouble if you talk me through unlocking it. i have all the instructions and most of it makes sense, but i'd like the extra piece of mind in the off chance that i brick it by screwing something up during the unlock. i have a mac, but can use a pc to unlock if that's what you're more familiar with.

i need the iphone to work with multiple sim cards, interchangably. thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't really help since I have never taken it that far but if you have Itunes 7.3 and the 1.02 firmware downloaded as per instructions, it really is impossible to brick the phone since you can always restore it (hold both buttons for 25 seconds, then connect to iTunes to restore from backup).

Easy unlock for firmware 1.1 released, supposedly impossible to brick it using this method. http://iphone.nullriver.com/beta/ or navigate your iphone's browser to http://jailbreakme.com and follow the instructions.
