Default \"Small Ball\"?

I've heard this phrase thrown around alot recently.

Can anyone please explain what "Small Ball" means? Under what games/ conditions can this style be applied most effectively?

Would it work in small to mid limit/hold em ring games?

Thanks.

Harrington states that "small ball is a style based on making small moves at pots, blending probe and continuation bets, to pull down pots cheaply without much of a hand."

Here is a series of videos with Negreanu "teaching," someone smallball:

I believe small ball refers to making moves at small pots without risking a lot of chips. raising pre-flop and then continuation betting for half the pot would be an example.
a big turn check-raise bluff, or a 2-3 barrel bluff would be long ball. you risk a lot more chips trying to pull it off, but you can win a bigger pot.
good conditions for small ball are tight-passive, especially against players who call too many raises pre-flop and then fold to a bet when they miss.

Immediate reaction....wow that "advanced" player is a very bad actor. Negreanu actually seems pretty good though.

I think that "advanced player" is borderline retarded.

Watching those videos I felt like DN was trying to sell me a "How to get rich buying real estate!" book or some [censored].

Good stuff. DN goes into depth about c-betting, but offers no advice on what to do after the flop when you defend your blind, and doesn't even mention what to do if you get reraised.
