Re: nfl base defenses
[ QUOTE ]
First off, I agree that I have no clue how OP came up with the Bears running the 46. [/ QUOTE ] The Bears often line up with their linebackers very close to the LOS. If you're not familiar with their defensive scheme, it can be difficult to figure out what the hell they're doing from the TV angle. |

Re: nfl base defenses
Baltimore's base defense is a 3-4, not a 4-3.

Re: nfl base defenses
Nice job by Red Bean explaining the 46.
Baltimore is in a 3-4 most of the time and will sometimes go into a form of the 46 by moving Suggs to defensive end and covering up the center and guards and letting Ray Lewis run free. The Cardinals do seem to be in a 3-4 on a little more than half of their plays, but on third down they don't cover up the center most of the time. The Steelers play alot of cover two in the back of a 3-4. The "Tampa Two" is always a 4-3. Based on gap control where the tackles attack up the field and the defensive ends attack from the outside. This will often make things difficult on the middle linebacker if there is not a tackle that requires a double team. |
