He addressed this last night on the wcoop broadcast and said that he occasionally bets with other poker players and thinks he is about even.
Maybe the DN comment was because he didn't have much in his Stars account...

From the video, I would say Barry G has precisely NO gambling/sports betting problem.
He seems a man in complete control.

From your perspective, John Daly seems like a man in complete control.

Just to back up the OP a bit, I also was struck by Barry saying that he needs to bet six figures, but he can't afford to lose six figures right now. He said it in a bit of a forlorn way that seemed a bit curious.

I'm not claiming Barry is busto. I'm just saying that part of the video really struck me, and I've thought about it a few times in the past day.

Barry does seem in control, but that doesn't mean he didn't lose it for a period of time.

People don't talk about it like Barry did imo unless their life has become affected by the problem at some point, even if it was small and quickly fixed/solved.

Obviously he can recover from even going complete busto and the amount of money he's lost is larger than say, what I've lost playing blackjack,...but he talks about it the same way I would talk about it. Like he's been touched by the evil that is degen gambling. And you don't feel that evil until it really hurts in the bank.

Hope that makes some sense, I'm pretty baked.

I think he has been on a cooler lately. There was talk a while ago about him running bad in the big game for about a year, and he has stated repeatedly that he is hard on money. So it certainly wouldn't surprise me if he was strapped atm.

[/ QUOTE ]
Is "strapped" the right word here? to Barry being strapped is not being able to bet 6 figures for fun. For an average joe like myself it is having 50 bucks left in your checking account after paying rent.

If Barry is capable of staying within his bankroll or income and can control his desires for action, then he is not a pathological gambler.
