Default What was your biggest email [censored] up? Seriously kill me now.

Please post stories about the biggest time you [censored] up using email. For example, replying all instead of to one person, replying to the wrong person, flaming someone out when you shouldn't have, etc. Preferelably you got/or got someone fired/killed/arrested/train wreck.

It will make me feel better.

Here is mine from tonight:

I am going through my loads of unread backlogged emails and come across an email about a $20,000 donation that was made to my non-profit organization at school. I reply back to my vice-president and say "Hey, did we ever follow up and send thank you letters for this donation?"

I don't realise my mistake, until I recieve an hour later an email from the head of the donating organization "No you didn't...." Apparently I sent it to the HEAD OF THE DONATING ORGANIZATION INSTEAD OF OUR VICE-PRESIDENT. [censored] [censored] BITCH [censored].

[censored] ME.

That doesn't seem all that awful. If nothing else, it shows you were thinking about them and wondering if you had gone and done the right thing.

I've done way worse. Sent an email to my entire corporation making fun of a training class. I worked for one of the most highly regarded, stuffiest wall street organizations out there. I also sent an email to a girl I was dating and sent it out to my merciless group of college friends.

Thanks to the wonders of MS Outlook auto-fill I once forwarded a fairly raunchy (albeit very funny, can't remember it though) e-mail to a client with the same first name as the target recipient. Took me awhile to realize my mistake too, and I think a couple of my friends in the distro list replied-all too, which meant my client was treated to those messages as well. I wonder about the authenticity of probably the most infamous mis-send, the chick who went out on a date with a guy (in NYC, I think), then accidentally sent him an e-mail about how she would use him for dinners or whatever but wasn't otherwise interested in him (intended for a friend of hers obv), and he proceeded to forward it to the entire internet. This would have been 5-6 years ago and was pretty funny.

That email sounds more good than bad, quit being a nit.
