Default men vs. women

Why do men seemingly play better poker than women? Have played longer, understand risk/reward better(not afraid to put the money on the line), think more critically?

men are generally more intelligent - but i think theres more - men have balls and our balls make us not want to lose to other people. men can also drink more and can stay up later for long games. men like cigars and smoke and money. men like to trick people as it shows dominance - just like chimps do in the wild. men dont try to clean floors and wash dishes all the time and dont have to sit out of a game to have a baby suck on their nipples. men like a nice quiet analytical game amongst friends and poker gives them this. men love competition and beating opponents. men want to be like james bond from casino royale. men enjoy work and games and poker is the perfect combination of the two.

Not the response I expected, but I the part about not wanting to lose, I agree with. As so far as men play more sports at a young age and are therefor more competitive. They can play a perfect hand, lose, and continue to play correctly and intelligently. Lessons learned from competition go a long way.

Women also play very compulsively, almost as if they have a programmed response to situations, what they think they are supposed to do. As opposed to making informed decisions based on opponents previous actions. I guess take a lot of the emotion out of their decisions more so than women.

Really? You never saw a man go on tilt?

That aside, how many men do you see play intelligently to begin with?

There are just more men who play poker than women. I'm really not sure if men also play better. But I'm sure that the biggest losers in poker are men.

It is very difficult to accept for a man that another one is better than he is. Poker is one of those few things which everybody think they are really good at. Women are not ashamed to admit they are weak. So they won't damage themself just to prove they are good.

I dont know about all the sexist crap in this thread, but men and women definitely have different strengths and weaknesses that stem from their sex moreso than their personality.

Men have more of a desire to win and dominate, and thus tend to tilt more when losing. Also, men accept that unfair is fair in poker.

Women are generally less aggressive and more comfortable in the passengers seat. They have the task of making this passive play work to their advantage and this is not easy to do. Women tend to play with a sense of honesty and fairness, and this can work to their detriment in poker.
