why are sites so different? or are they....

Hi guys,
having not played since term time began I am planning to grind full time for a good three of four weeks for my xmas holidays. I have never really played at many sites, so was wondering first of all, why are some sites so reportedly soft compared to others? Im trying to find a new site to play, and party and pacific stand out and having really soft reputations. Is it worth playing at these soft sites (multitabling full ring 0.5/1 and 1/2NLH) or playing somewhere else where I can get a decent bonus and rakeback but are probably tougher games?

Is there really such a big difference in sites as regards difficulty? Do I go for the sites with easy reputations, or the bonuses and rakeback at others?
