Calling lite in a 3bet pot
Villain is 30/15/1 with 50% att to steal over a big sample. The type of guy who heared position was good, so raises almost every hand in LP and does not believe in folding. I think first time I 3bet him.

Re: Calling lite in a 3bet pot
Its def. a good idea to punish someone stealing that much, but I would prob. wait for a better hand to do it with. I'd do it with any A or K, suited connectors down to 56, mid suited one gappers, all pocket pairs. Basically top 40% of hands. 79 off is probably a bit too weak for me.
That being said I do make a move with a hand like 79 every once in awhile, assuming villian is calling 3bets with a wide range. As played it looks good to me, again, as long as you have seen him call 3 bets liberally. |

Re: Calling lite in a 3bet pot
There was no 3betting at the table before up to this point, so I cant say he would call a 3bet liberally, but he sure called raises in position liberally and was stealing a lot of blinds.

Re: Calling lite in a 3bet pot
I know this spot. It's hard not to think results orientedly, but I'm usually toast in these spots. As you said, there was no 3betting going on, so you represent a big hand. The least you're gonna have is kicker trouble.
And btw: if he doesn't believe in folding, you should just flat call this preflop and play for good implied odds. You hurt yourself by reraising. |

Ye but he steals 50%, I have no implied odds and I'm tired of giving up blinds.

Re: Calling lite in a 3bet pot
Fire again on the turn or he'll put you on AK :P
You could also call with the 97s it sucks to be OOP but you flop something good around 23% of the time with suited one gappers (see SSNL sticky post regarding suited connectors) iirc I prefer the 3bet though |
