I bet €40, and folded to a €160 raise from the CO, who had been showing down with the goods, but seeing a lot of flops.

His raise basically would put you all in. You're calling 160 to win the 238 in the pot (163 to win 244 minus rake, after the last few euros go in). There are 2 other aces and 2 other nines in the deck. Essentially, you beat the aces and lose to the nines. Cancel AA and AK with the possibility of a bluff.

Does anyone hate a call here? Did I dig my own grave by advocating a bet here?

I like the c/c c/c line suggested by berge and mr donk. Playing live I think you should be raising more preflop, however. In a live, low stakes game you need to raise more than 3.5BB UTG to limit the field. This would be a much easier hand to play against only one or two villains.

In hindsight I like that line too, I bet €40, and folded to a €160 raise from the CO, who had been showing down with the goods, but seeing a lot of flops.

Unfortunately €7 was the max raise allowed, it's Pot limit.

My mistake. Thanks for pointing that out.

Is that fold horribly weak?

Thinking over it again, perhaps he might have played a nine slower, so maybe it's a call?
