Default Suited Connector hand... 25nl

Well, trying to open up my range a little so this is a hand I have run into. Whats your play in this spot?

3rd Hand at a table with Villain I've never played with before, so no reads.

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 8 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $16.70
BB: $12.35
UTG: $24.90
UTG+1: $13.65
MP1: $44.55
MP2: $15.75
Hero (CO): $24.65
BTN: $22.85

Preflop: Hero is dealt 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (8 Players)
UTG calls $0.25, UTG+1 calls $0.25, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.25, BTN folds, SB calls $0.15, BB checks

Flop: ($1.25) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 Players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 bets $0.50, Hero raises to $1.75, 3 folds, UTG+1 calls $1.25

Turn: ($4.75) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $3.00, UTG+1 raises to $6.00, Hero ???

Comments appreciated.

While a better flush is definately possible, it is very unlikely and it is the only hand that beats you right now.

Push and hope for a call. Its well possible, that villain has no clubs at all.

I'll lose 1/2 a buy in with this hand all day long. Push it.

His line does seem like a donk playing a monster, but I think the pot is too big to fold and you will have to call a river bet if he has something, so push now and charge him to draw if he has only 1 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

U need to push. His raise is weak and the only thing beating you is if he holds better clubs, which is so unlikely that losing 1/2 a buy in is just the way it has to go sometimes.

i've seen people play sets like this on monotone flops, they let one peel off then raise u when its not a 4th flush card. not much of a strategy, but donks do all kind of crazy things

Hey all,

Thanks for the advice. I agree with what was said here, and I knew I had to push or fold in this spot. I couldn't give someone with an A/K/Q of clubs a chance to out draw me.

I shoved the turn, he called with A9 of clubs taking it down.

I was intrested to see if anyone would interpet the min raise as strength, as on the turn I had a gut feeling I was beat (wasn't good enough to lay it down though).

Thanks all.

For what its worth to you I would like this a lot better if you make it 1.50 preflop. Thats a better way to open up you game and build a pot for when you hit a flop hard like this IMO. Other then that you need to get the money in and give a fist pump when you win it.
