why does phil ive peek at his card after winning a hand?
After Phil Ivey wins a hand by making an opponent fold on the flop/turn/river he will usually take another peek at his cards before throwing them into the muck. Why does he do that?
Any time I see him on TV he will do this after winning a hand... he must know what cards he had, so what's the point? |

Re: why does phil ive peek at his card after winning a hand?
He does it to see the reaction of his opponents. When you play hands like 9-2 offsuit then you often have to rely on your reads more than your cards.
Peeking frequently signifies a draw. If you know your opponents know this then you can more accuratley assess your read of this hand and subsequently make a mental note for future hands. |

He makes sure he doesn't have the nuts. Then feels good about outplaying his opponent.
