Re: alcohol forum gone?
nation,
It's tuq. TEE YOU QUEUE. Thanks for noticing. I'd like to flatter myself and think El D calls me "tug" on purpose, much like he refers to guids as "quids", or dids as "dibs". Whatever. It's a fairly close call, I see your point for sure. But it clearly divides the 2+2 community even farther. And while I might not post in many forums (curiously, I'm way more intimidated by the strat forums than OOT) I see the clique-ish communities in each, and hate to see one broken up just to serve the wants of the few. Plus, I'm extremely resistant to change. |

Re: alcohol forum gone?
nation,
No. I figure between OOT and TLDR, people have two very good outlets to post food/drink threads of different types. I don't see why yet another forum is needed. While the forum would succeed to a degree no doubt, I suspect the main impact would be that food/drink/restaurant contributions from me and many others like me would be lost. Whether or not this would likely be made up for by any increased participation in the new forum is a decision for the mods/admins to make. As I wrote above, my three food threads this week received about 4000 views and 300 responses. The Scotch and Wine threads by Clark and others also received huge participation. To clarify my position, I would not participate much in the forum and do not think it's necessary, but also agree with you that there's a decent chance it might be a successful forum. |

Re: alcohol forum gone?
nation,
I think "support" and "participate in" are mutually exclusive, making the question hard to answer. I certainly did NOT support the creation of TQZ and LOL, but to a degree have participated in them out of necessity. I'd still prefer they didn't exist. |

El D,
I see your point, but I really believe a LOT of people would enjoy posting there; way more than TLDR. |

Re: alcohol forum gone?
Mat,
May I humbly make the following two suggestions for Forums: 1. An "About the 'About the Forums' Forum." 2. A "Legal Discussion/Questions/Nothing in This Forum Shall Constitute Legal Advice" Forum. Edit: #2 was serious. |

Re: alcohol forum gone?
The food forum for mod playground was a huge success, maybe even more than the drinks one. I think thats a big indicator that it'll get a lot of traffic, and will serve a lot of different groups of posters.

Re: alcohol forum gone?
NO MORE FORUMS.
seriously. it is hard enough to check all of the forums. just set everyone's default thread view to 50 or 100 and then all threads will have a chance in OOT. |

Re: alcohol forum gone?
I like the idea of a food/alcohol forum. Can't really cook now since I'm in a dorm room for the summer, but I would check it out when I move to my apartment in September.
And SackUp, your avatar is awesome. |

Re: alcohol forum gone?
Mat,
I've stated my position on Alcohol/Food forum(s), so no more on that. But, while we're on the topic of new forums, fwiw, I think the following: High School Life College Life Relationships and Dating are among a number of potential forums that have far more of a need and would be far more successful (without negatively impacting other forums) than Alcohol and/or Food forum(s) (as well as some of the other recent ones). |
