high $$$ clientel???? you're a poker player. casino make a rake off your play. if you are a high limit player, they get time, which is less. poker is not a "house" game. you will not get perks. you guys have got to realize this. and for jack, the tourneys are running as smooth as possible. every year everyone says "this is the worse year yet." next year will also be the worse year yet. you can not have anything this huge go off without a hitch. come on.

time is more than rake, but wtv. Also many high stakes poker players blow tons in the pit. Thanks for coming out.

also playing cash at the rio is like playing in a convention center. Why the normal poker room isnt being used for cash I have no idea. But it is pleasant to be in the big events and hear the floor calling people for a 4-8 limit game over and over.

If the WSOP were a major trade organization holding an annual convention in Las Vegas, they would dump Harrah's and move their show to Orlando. Harrah's remains inconsiderate, incompetent or both in managing this event.

ANY good event planner could run the WSOP better than the current crew. Functionally, the WSOP is a convention and each tournament is a breakout session. After three years of it at the Rio it is a weak excuse to blame crowd sizes, numbers of concurrent tournaments, etc...

I believe the root of the problems lie with Harrah's management that you do not see -- the ones in the back office. Jack McClelland, Matt Savage, or anyone else in the biz would have to deal with the Harrah's backoffice and would probably have the same results.

I won't address the general poker-play considerations as they have been debated over and over and over.

I love it when people say "Jack McClellan could run a tournament better than Jack Effel, or anyone else for that matter."

Jack McClelland, to my knowledge, has never run a tournament with 3,000 people in it. He never had 8,000 people converge to a single 6-window cage in a 12-hour period. Just exactly how would Jack handle these items is a mystery for sure.

[/ QUOTE ]

The key is he would be able to get all (or as many as was needed) of the best people working for him. Like I mentioned above when Jimmy took over the WPO in 2004 (?) his biggest handicap of not being McClellan was not having himself working for him.

I know Jack Effel, but from passing him and playing in his room occasionally. He seems competent, but as a floorman working in a midsized room. I have not been out to the WSOP this year, but I am guessing his biggest weakness is not being able to surround himself with people that are good at their job.

I'll be happy to walk up to Jack this weekend and tell him how Harrah's corporate should deal with your willingness to act as their PR department. I have no problems with Jack - never once in this thread have I said a bad word about him, I have a problem with how you are representing Harrah's and the WSOP. If your going to be this obnoxious, you should out yourself to the forum members - after all you left all the hints in this thread, anyone who spends anytime on the tour or knows the business of poker operations can figure this out for themselves but its unfair to the casual reader of 2+2.

In the reno events (I know that was WPT) some of the events were selected by last names....awful. Imagen the Nyguen table.

I was at the tahoe events as well and have to say there wwere some minor problems but nothing too catastrophic that I noticed. Though I did not sign up with 3 buddies all together so cant speak on EL D's situation (which is inexcusable).

Lastly though my time around Jack has been brief, he seems nice enough as far as character goes. But NO ONE is as good at the TD position as Mr. Johnny Grooms. He garners the respect of all players while ruling fairly as well as being accessible at all times.

Just as I thought, you are not willing to tell Jack to his face what you guys have really been saying about him!!!!! As far as PR for Harrah's that is not my job, I'm clearly just standing up for what I believe in, and stating the facts! It is so easy for you guys to get on here and say terrible things about people, but you would never say it to there face!!! I understand the need to vent, but why throw some poor guy under the bus, that is just doing his job??

Another thing, care to confront me to my face?????

I'd be afraid to say anything to you, this thread has shown you make bad decisions under pressure - I don't need to take the risk.
