Re: Actually making money - Forum Project
I'm skeptical to how you will organize and "assign" topic tasks on a large scale. There's maybe only a handful of niches for any given topic that are going to really generate decent traffic. Who gets the "obviously popular niche" and who gets the "obvious mediocre niche" ? Who is going to be willing to take and actually run the niches that aren't likely to be popular?

Re: Actually making money - Forum Project
I'm probably in. I've been wanting to try something like this on my own, so this is a good excuse. Whatever topics we end up with should be similar enough that people who visit one site should be tempted to visit the links to the others. This rules out some otherwise good ideas...for example jurollo's regional food review idea...I'm in NJ, so I might visit a sight about NJ Restaurants...but I'd have no interest at all in following a link to Las Vegas restaurants...so we'd be losing out on one of the big benefits of doing this project as a group.
Another thought...any reason that some of the sites shouldn't be done as free blogs if the blog format is appropriate for the niche topic? |

maddog: Instead of worrying about who gets what niche you should me focused on trying to learn the ropes and figure it out as a first run. Your not going to make a million dollar website here, just go slow and pick up some ideas and pointers.
Are you guys trying to make adsense income, promote affiliate stuff or something else? If my hosting control panel wasnt such a mess Id donate hosting for you guys to muck around on, but im moving a ton of sites around so its really disorganized. |

Re: Actually making money - Forum Project
farang0,
It really has nothing specifically to do with me (my priority isn't to "learn the ropes"). I'm questioning how you will motivate the people who start off with obviously disadvantaged niches to do any work. There's obviously only a limited supply of them. I think the number for most topics is well below the 100-200 range. As some have suggested, breaking it up by location may be one solution to this. But I'm still skeptical. Edit: Actually, yeah, breaking it by city for sports for example actually would cover 100-200 pretty well. Just gotta make sure something w/this wide a base is picked. |

Re: Actually making money - Forum Project
Im really interested in this. The niche should be about buisness. There are more affiliate opportunities and I dont think the bulk of participants would stick around for adsense to start kicking in for another niche area. From the little I have learned it takes some time for any adsense money to start trickling in.
