Default ZOMG!!!!! zero + OurHouse (Trip Report)

Believe it or not, it's true. We've been speaking on aim/skype/phone for months and finally met up this week. OH drove up to Canada from New Jersey on Wednesday, nearly getting strip-searched at the border. They held him for 45 minutes, searching his car and asking quetions about everything between where he was born, where he was going, and if he owned Party Poker (wtf?).

After getting into the city he checked into a hotel we picked out, and then he drove over to my apartment. Obviously, we were both scared sh!tless. We left the car there (since I'm a pussy and didn't want to get into a car with some creepy internet stalker) and walked downtown to get something to eat. The walk was about 20 minutes and helped to ease some of the initial tension. We went to Quiznos, then stopped by the bank so OH could exchage some US money for Canadian $$. I think they got him for about $30 in the process . After that, we just hung around downtown until the 10 o'clock showing of Casino Royale. The movie really wasn't that great, despite all the great reviews. It really should have ended about 45 min sooner. Anyways, after that we just walked back to my apartment and I actually let him in (oh noes). He stayed for a few mins and then drove back to the hotel.

The next day we went out to some random diner for breakast at noon, then went back to my place. OH is a pool shark, and I think pool is the shiznit so we looked up some pool rooms and left. The first three places we tried to find didn't exist, so we asked some random clerk at a hock shop and he directed us to a place that turned out to be great. Huge pool hall with about 60 tables and a full bar/restaurant area. We played a few games and he gave me some pointers. Now I can kick any of your asses. After that we came back to my place to get ready for dinner. We decided to go to The Keg Steakhouse, which had some amazing food. We ordered fried calamari and bacon-wrapped scallops for appetizers, and OH ordered a filet mignon wrapped in bacon with a twice-baked potato while I had the same steak, but topped with blue cheese and garlic cloves and with a side of mashed potatos. [censored] delicious. After dinner we went back to the hotel for a bit and then he drove me home.

Yesterday was great. We went to some sh!tty little mall around here, ate lunch, then went back to my place. Hung around here for a while, played some poker, then went out to a comdey club for a 9 o'clock show. The acts were [censored] great, way better than we both anticipated for a small local place. The headliner, Mike Dambra, was so funny at some points that I actually had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.

After the comedy club, we came back to my place to have a few beers and watch some Honeymooners episodes on DVD. I told OH to check out of the hotel and save his money by staying here. He spent last night at my apartment and here we are today. For the rest of the trip, we'll be playing things by ear. Luckily, we don't have jobs to report to. Being a poker player has its benefits. So after being so unsure if this whole thing was a good idea, everything's turned out great so far. I haven't found anything wrong with him yet, but if I do I'll definitely let you all know . I might even be heading down to Jersery with him when he leaves. Now we're off to go grab some breakfast. Later.

For those of you playing along at home, zero, like myself and KyrosMother, is a girl.

And I think this is a lovely development.
