I'm not a great NL player, but I find it amusing as hell to see Greenstein open with $4,000, and to see Gold flat call with 64o with 6 people left to act behind him. And I don't mean one time. I mean time, after time, after time.

They HAVE to be paying him to play this bad.

I love to watch the show, but High Stakes Poker is bad poker because the players are all (or mostly) playing to the viewing audience. Like the time Benyamine bluffed all the way to the river (successfully, but that's beside the point) with 72o. He was obviously just doing that to show off to the viewers- by choosing the absolute worst hand in poker to bluff with and that makes no sense unless you're doing it for entertainment/prestige value.

And I think the reason Farha checked last night was because he was worried about the public humiliation he would face if it turned out that Gold had flopped a set or something and was just playing scared. That check was the result of fear and I don't think it was the fear of losing money as much as of losing face. Except he lost that anyway by being a pu**y.

What the HSP players have the realize is that aside from having horrible tells, Jamie Gold is a god aweful poker player.
