After ZJs latest blog post, the "5 guys" side of the bet looks pretty money. He basically concedes that he's not going to try to beat those guys. I'm sure Tico is quite disappointed in his giving up.

god where the hell are all the guys who were talking about how ZJ was a lock?

he has a sick run at the end of 2006 and people who play poker for a living can't even attribute the proper amount of that to variance.

From his recent blog entry:

"Iíve basically decided that winning the Card Player PoY race is no longer something Iím willing to dedicate an entire year to. Donít get me wrong, I still plan on finishing highly on it, at least top 20 barring a complete blowup, but I canít take the non-stop traveling. I love life in LA too much. I skipped Reno, Monte Carlo, and Foxwoods, and Iíll be 100% focused and ready for the Bellagio series including the $25,000 World Poker Tour main event which is a BIG deal.

Maybe Iím still on tilt from the 600+ points I had cheated from me in the Bahamas. A couple of people have referred to that as a second chance event, but it wasnít one. Second chance events are generally the same day and the same buyin. In the Bahamas, there were a series of tournaments. The only one that got submitted to any major poker site was the main event. I have emailed PokerStars about getting this event submitted, but to no avail. There isnít even a record of the tournament happening. Oddly enough, the other tournament missing from my CardPlayer page is my EPT Deauville Final table in FranceÖ also a PokerStars tournament. Coincidence? You decide.

Oh well, the truth is Iím too lazy to put up a fight to compete with guys like Nam Le, The Grinder, and JC Tran (who is on a sick sick run btw) who are willing to put forth a full effort. Even if I did put up a 100% effort, I would obviously be an underdog against all of those guys."

Ok its almost settle up time on this bets, I thought I would bump this thread with a month left so everyone can sweat the last few big poker series before years end and cheer on their gambles!

I bet on Alan Sass to beat Justin Bonomo in POY points for 5k with Yeti

and I also bet 500 getting 8 to 1 odds against Ahnuld on Bonomo to beat all 5 of last years top POY finishers.

here are the relavant standings:

J.C. Tran Sacramento, CA 4,458 5 $2,364,097

86 Alan Sass Las Vegas, NV 1,740 3 $461,181

144 Justin Bonomo Los Angeles, CA 1,384 4 $551,880
