Cold caller 4 bets my 3 bet QQ, 200BB+ deep

I've only been playing with this guy for a little bit, but he seems to be very sporadic while at the same time making very solid plays for big pots. I've only seen him play donkish a couple of times multi tabling but he manages to keep a nice stack. I really didn't know exactly what to put him on cold calling like this and then reraising me while we were over 200 BB's deep already.. what do you make of this? Do I call, fold, or shove preflop?

i fold this reasonably quickly. u have to be well behind his range here.

I fold here too. Sometimes you see short stackers taking this line with very wide ranges, but not people who are this deep. He probably called with KK or AA otb figuring the blinds would fold and wanted to get tricky. Once you re raise he probably figures you have a real hand and just wants to get it in now.

That's what I originally thought, but how often do you see people trapping others like this at $50 NL? Maybe 1% of the time?

I don't think you get it, its not how often it happens, its how often he has a certain range once he's done this. Its conditional.

I have def seen some lagtard types get caught up in resqueezing at 50 NL here w/ 33, 86, who knows, depending on your image and how likely he thinks you are to be squeezing. However given you're pretty deep and this is Stars where these games tend toward nitty this is prob a reasonably easy fold and pay attention to him doing this kind of thing in the future.

This can be three things-

1. a monster
2. a 'very solid play for a big pot' - there is after all already nearly 40bbs in the pot and if this line makes solid players want to fold QQ, then, well... it is as previously described 'very sexy'
3. 'donkish' which he has reportedly been on occasion

I think the fact that have some FE for what is now a 70bb+ pot (because it can be a move/donkish and our shove has to pucker KK up good) + it could be donkish (ie we get called by less) + when it is a monster we have 18% equity + the 40ish bb overlay = this is alot closer than it seems on first glance-

I'm glad it doesn't happen often- and real time I'd vomit and fold the vast majority of the time.
