its rare that someone turns Jx into a bluff on a board this ugly

This board "looks" uglier than it is.

Spades came in, yeah, but theres a hell of a lot of jacks that get here too from a 34/9.

Its reaaaaly hard to give villain a hand that has a 7 in it, and it seems as either gutshot that called on the flop would have popped the turn if they hit, seeing as there is a flush draw and people haaaaaate flush draws when they have straights.

I think I can find value in a bet, especially because my (vague) read is that villain is fairly passive and you say you haven't seen him bluff, so I can feel totally fine about a raise.

Halfpot valuebet, fold to raise? Meh? I think we still get value out of kj/qj/tj?

while this may or may not be true, this doesn't mean there is no value in a bet.

these spots are always tricky though, esp w/not even a pot sized bet as the effective stack.
