Default Fantasy Basketball Hypothetical

Had a discussion with a buddy yesterday that sparked this debate.

Hypothetical: You’re a GM in the NBA who has been given the opportunity to select any two players to build a team around. You would like to compete for a championship immediately, as well as have a strong tandem for the next four or five years as well.

Who would you choose?

I would select Howard/Paul. He says he would choose Bryant/Duncan.

Who has more championships in the long run?

Any better combos? Why?

Lebron/Howard, probably. Or Lebron/KG. Or Lebron/Paul. If it doesn't involve Lebron in some way, something is wrong.

Wouldn't be great for the long term, but how sick would a KG/Duncan frontcourt be??!!!

Everyone seems to love to match a great post player with a great perimeter guy, but I think its more fun to imagine two of the same playing together.

bitch dat moan county

Durant and Oden?

On a serious note, I'd think Kobe has about 5 years left, maximum, to perform at a level he's been performing the past 2 years. I wouldn't want to put Duncan on the list either because we're looking at about 10 years down the road and still contending. LeBron has to be on the list. Meh, whoever came up with Dwight + Bron is right I guess. Can't get any better than that. BUT for THIS year only I'd take Kobe + Duncan, no hesitation

This year only I'd take Lebron and KG. Maybe Lebron and Duncan. If I went with Kobe, I'd probably team him with Kidd or Nash.
