Anyone can find a conspiracy in anything. Maybe Mason owns Absolute. LOL. But my money is on that he's stepping forward to try to fill the vacuum left by nonexistent oversight in this billion dollar offshore industry that his company would greatly like to see continue to prosper. I think the important part in the long run is that this be throroughly investigated. Whether it was one bad apple or a whole tree isn't the point. The point is that there is currently no real mechanism to get to bottom of an issue like this with an online poker room, and that is appalling. If it was disclosed that higher ups at a Vegas casino were engaged in cheating, there would be criminal, civil, and licensure ramifications. I don't think you should be attacking the best scenario offered thusfar. We don't have a gaming commission. And if the US is willing to thumb its nose at the WTO as well as ignore the potential tax revenue that online poker can offer in order to cow-tow to a few religous zealots, so be it. It's the wild west for the foreseeable future, and I think online players ought to be grateful. Quite frankly, AP's resistence tells me where they stand, and I don't really need the investigation to occur. The offer and rejection is quite informative.

El Hombre: that post should be pinned up and permanent.

AP doesn't want to be properly investigated, so arguments about who should do it - and who should pay - are quite irrelevant now. No more 'offering to save AP'; let them rot.

Incidentally, on another site (can't remember which), some AP bloke did actually say the perpetrators would be prosecuted.

Naturally, he was lying.

Second, Absolute has apparently agreed to allow Bluff Magazine and Pocket Fives to review the findings of the investigation without a similar arrangement for Two Plus Two. This seems strange considering Two Plus Two’s role in uncovering and discussing this situation.

It's kind of funny how when Nat was considering whether to go down to Costa Rica "as a representative for twoplustwo", Mason was very quick to point out that "I'm sorry but you do not represent Two Plus Two. That authorization can only from me."

However, when it comes to taking credit for uncovering the scandal, he's happy to have all the credit associated with the "Two Plus Two" name.

agree...
Mason, your post smacks of sour grapes. you only jumped on the bandwagon after all the hard investigative work had been done - your attitude stinks imnsho

We'll have more to say tomorrow. I realize this looks sketchy, and I apologize for that. But I just am not at liberty to say anything without legal consult.

I assure you that a) Two Plus Two Publishing LLC or it's owners, shareholders, employees and most favoured friends has not and will not stand to profit from any investigation of Absolute Poker.

b) Our only interest in this matter, really, is to help with discovery of truth and ultimately to further the goals of poker players. Making sure places are honest etc...

I am not opposed to the "shoot first, ask questions later" method. Take the top 10 highest ranked members in the Absolute Poker hierarchy and hang them all by their necks from a traffic light. Then complete the investigation...

Yeah, I still think it's odd that BBV is pretty much the only place we talk about this now.

Sure seems to me that it's buried here. Very strange that its not in internet gambling - those folks might not even know about it.

I find it hilarious how, throughout all of these posts, so many people still respond to Mason like he's some dumb POS when, in reality, you all wouldn't be [censored] without him. Most of your disrespectfuls are probably too stupid to even realize that though.

Hopefully you're not talking to me? I think Mason walks on water.

He's a poker player's poker player. He makes this site available to all of us. He always operates from the high ground. Witness all the crap he takes for standing up on principle vs. the opaque PPA, beating back a horde of small-thinking lemmings. That takes fortitude.

Thinking about this a bit more; what the hell are you talking about?
