Default Mercury Meltdown Revolution (Wii)

Gamespot Page

Anyone else looking at this game? I know the previous one was supposed to be quite good for the PSP. I'm a fan of puzzle games and it looks like it could be fun. Plus they're only asking $30 for it, much more reasonable for a game of this type. I'd be curious to hear from anyone who gets it or has it for the PSP.

I have the original 'Mercury' for the PSP and think it's fantastic. Never played Meltdown but I would imagine it is similar.

yep- it's very similar. But you tilt the "world" just as in Super Monkey Ball. And the thing you control is, eh, mercury! So it splits into seperate blobs, has inertia characteristics, etc. There's quite a bit to the game really.

Well, I could have sworn that it was released already, but apparently it's not availalbe until August. I guess I'll have to bump this thread in a month or so.

I figured I'd bump this as supposedly it's available in the US now (Sept 24th). I haven't checked the stores but I'm planning on buying this. Seems like a great bargain for $20. Has anyone else in the States seen it in stores? I'll also try and give it a quick review when I do get it, probably this weekend.

EDIT: Ok, BestBuy has its release date as Nov 27th, Amazon as Sept 29th, GameStop as Oct 23rd (as well as IGN and Gamespot). I am legitimately confused, but it looks like 10/23/07 is the most likely.

Ok, I know this is available in the US now because I actually bought it yesterday! First off, I think $20 is a great deal for any Wii game, especially one reviewed so highly.

I haven't had much of a chance to play it, but I do feel the controls are very responsive. The 'puzzles' aren't even really puzzles yet, it's more just navigating some narrow paths, but I hear the difficulty ramps up fairly quickly.

I have one main question for those who have played this before. I'm confused with what I should be focusing on when playing the levels. There seem to be three metrics for success: mercury level, time remaining, and bonuses. Together they do combine for a total score (and it seems the importance for that is in the order I wrote them).

For now, I'm just focusing on passing the levels, score be damned, but I'd like to know what I should try to improve on the most when I do go back to revisit them.

After having this on order for quite a while, finally received it and while it's ok, was expecting more.

It held my attention for about 10 minutes - then back to poker.
