3 betting PF OOP

Hey guys, watusp.

Im kind of stumbled on one concept with this and I don't want to make this post tl;dr.

Why is it that OOP people suggest to re-raise a hand like 99 in the SB to an utg open. I've heard people say things like well to negate your positional dis-advantage I would just 3bet. I mean wouldn't we if anything just call for set value in the sb. I've seen people do this with hands like AKo to.

Never reraise an UTG opener without a premium. Reraise CO and button from the blinds. 3betting with AK is totally fine.

AKo is a hand to 3-bet with in any position against any opener.

Reasons why I 3-bet:
-If villain is raising very loosely.
-If I want to isolate him.
-To get payed off when I have aces aswell (so I 3-bet with suited connecters aswell).
-To protect my hand like 99 against an AQ opener.
-If the opener is a weak player.

Your re-raising 99 from a CO open right? Is that for pure value?

I mean I just don't understand the concept of 3betting because of your positional advantage maybe I was just reading someone who posted and didn't know what there saying.

I think that raising UTG raises may not be best - but 3 betting from BB/SB from raise in MP/CO/B is very good. This is something that i have found to be a massive leak in peoples games - non paired hands hit 1/3 times (and even then the hit may not be strong enough). So when you 3 bet OOP you MUST lead with a cont bet and you will take it down like 80% of the time. You will also do it with a decent hand so there will be situations where your hand is best.

3 betting shows alot of strength and this is good.

I agree, but only if the UTG opener is a solid player. There are still alot of people in uNL that don't care about position. They see an ace and boom, chips in the pot!

depends way to much on what kind of player(stats,reads) the utg raiser is.

In fact you could prob 3 bet out of the blinds with ATC and it would be +EV in the long run.
