NL50 - I opt for strange line, get strange action. Now what?
Villain is 2+2. We each know the other is 2+2.
This is a rather unusual line for me, and now I'm unsure of what to do here. Thoughts? Does your opinion of what to do change if I have AK vs. KQ? I like to check/call these turns.

flop sucks cause you're basically bluffing (you're over-repping your hand to the point where its going to be hard to get value from worse hands) and KQ isn't a good hand to bluff with on that flop.

I dont like PF. Theres no reason to c/r on this flop. Either lead or check/call. Turn is a fold.

Re: NL50 - I opt for strange line, get strange action. Now what?
It might be better to just call the flop and check/raise the turn. If your opponent is way better than most of the other players at this level, he/she might start to wonder why you raised the flop. You are representing better hand than top pair, but you can’t have over pair (AA would have reraised preflop) or two pairs. There are no possible draws, so why reraise with a set on the flop? So if your opponent is really observant, he/she might be able to put you on a top pair or a bluff, because those hands are the most likely holdings. If you just call the flop and check/raise the turn, you could be protecting your set against flush or straight draw. So he/she could more easily put you on really powerful hand and fold (or reraise).
But as played like this, you have no other option than fold. |

Re: NL50 - I opt for strange line, get strange action. Now what?
This is a great hand. You have elements of higher level thinking and RIO rolled together.
I like the flop c/r expecting the CB. Against most players the turn push is an insta-fold for me, but against a thinking opponent that knows I post here, I reevaluate. What is the range for Villain's MP raise? Pretty wide. Any PP, suited A, unsuited big A, big K's, mid and high suited connectors. More if he is LAGish. What are we behind based on our range? AA, KK, AK, TT, KT, 88, 22. We are ahead of a lot of other combinations here. Against a thinking player I reluctantly make this call hoping for a river Q. Holding AK I make this call against this type of player with much more confidence. |

You're turn bet was too small. I think he has KK or maybe AA, but AA would have played flop more aggressively. Fold

What kind of range do people put MP on?

i don't know what c/r'ing the flop accomplishes. All you do is bloat the pot when you are OOP w/ a marginal hand.
