Man, this makes me nostalgic. I haven't been in Paris for almost 20 years. When I was there, I stayed near Luxembourg Gardens as well.
I was wondering, since the dollar is in free-fall, how expensive did you find everything? It'd be sweet the next time I go on a heater, to hop to JFK for a long weekend in Paris right after.

Great trip report . My girl and I try to get over to Paris every year . That is just a incredible city. And the FOOD :-)

Definitely noticed. Buying a round of drinks, the nominal price looks right, then you add in that 40% and it gives you pause.

Definitely. As I've chatted up the trip the last week, many have replied with the usual "I've never been to Paris, my girlfriend and I would like to go."

Do it, I reply. I just checked Travelocit, and the first weekend in November (fly Friday, return Monday) round trip from JFK to CDG is $500 on United. A bit extravagant, yes, but that's part of the point.
