What's the rake? And were all the holdem games no-limit? Were there no pot-limit or limit games?

The rake was 5% of each pot with no cap that I could see. Absolutely sick, I know.

The games were all no-limit. Also on offer was a NLHE game with €2/€2 blinds, a €5/€5 dealer's choice game, and I believe a €5/€5 no limit game. I did not railbird the bigger games at all as I was lucky enough to get a seat quickly.

One other thing I forgot to mention were the numbers. Players spoke English and seemed willing to help, but it was easy to identify the chips in most bets, and the same numbers were used over and over again (8,16,20,24,30, etc) so I caught on.

BDub1,

It is well known that ACF allows smoking and has a dress code. If you find that abhorrent and archaic, then please just don't go rather than using this as some justification for jingoism.

As it happens, even with ACF, this was the least cigarette smoke overall I encountered on a trip to Paris. The law changed this year to prohibit smoking in a lot of public places.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dude, you need to chill out. I have lots of reasons to dislike the French, the least of which is the smoking. Hey, I have few vices, leave me my racism, please.

My comments were meant to inform, and in fact, I do not play at ACF any longer, usually playing on the 1 or 2 trips I made each year. The smoking is miserable, and if these selfish [censored]$ don't understand the greater picture, then, hey, one more reason to dislike them. So, StevieG, take your singular trip to Paris, your lone experience playing at a mediocre casino (decorating sucks, food is abysmal, dress code is unevenly enforced, smoking is rampant) and continue playing your 2/4 limit games and post how great they are.

I was solely expressing my opinion. How this could be the least cigarette smoke you encountered when they banned smoking in most public places, makes me say, hmmmmm? Have a nice day

Bars and restaurants have until 2008 to adjust to the requirement. Some have already banned smoking, others have not.

It's pretty clear from the above that racism isn't your only vice. Assuming that being a blowhard is a vice, that is.

Oh, and you are wrong about the food at the ACF. The restaurant is pretty decent, not Michelin-star level but certainly not "abysmal".

Hello,

I live in Paris and am a regular in the ACF.

Rake is 2 for 10, 2 for 50, 2 for 100 and then 2 for each 100 euros up to 12 on 200 max and to 22 on 400 max.

Smoking is supposed to be forbiden starting in 2008 but we all know they will make some kind of exeption for that kind of places.

Its not the best place to play poker in Paris but its the most famous one. There is one club called "cercle Hausmann", they have some 5/10 going on at night, I dont have the bankroll to play it but compared to this the 1/2NL in vegas is full of rocks.

Dress code is the same for everyone and I think its quite good. Restaurant is decent and not overpriced, the steack Tartare is one of the best in Paris (at this price anyway).

Ahh yes, I almost forgot about that. There was one dealer that was pulling rake off of uncalled bets. I wasn't sure of the protocol, but he was doing it to everyone so I let it go. I did get bit by it my first time though.

I was in the 2/2 game, in the sb with KK, the player in the BB had been going over the top of me alot, it was folded around, I checked, he bet 6, I pushed five stacks of 20 in to put him all, he folds and the dealer grabs a chip off of each of my stacks and one from the pot. I paid 12 in rake to win a 10 pot.

They rake uncalled bets? Wow! Never heard of that before. Does that happen anywhere in Vegas?

What's the ACF like for Omaha? Is there a 1/2 game? I've an open invite to stay with a French friend who's now living in Paris, and if I can get e500 together I'd like to check out the PLO.

There are not supposed to rake uncalled bet as if you raise and steal the blinds they dont rake.

There is no 1/2 omaha game, I dont think there is omaha table anyway, omaha is part of a lot of mix game played at 5/5 and higher (along with omaha 5 cards, hi low, HE and courchevel which is omaha with the first card of the flop revealed pre flop).

There are sometimes a 2/4 tables with rotation HE PLO. I dont think I have ever seen a table only omaha at whatever stakes. I guess it can happens though but pretty rare if so.
