Re: anyone used the stars travel certificates?
I'd consider getting concierge involved if the total cost of the trip is over $3k including flights, hotel, activities. They give you a lot more leeway in getting exactly what you want.

Re: anyone used the stars travel certificates?
At face value, they appear to be a good value; in terms of $/FPP. However, you have to book through a live travel agent (over the phone) and the prices they quote you are a lot higher than what you could get via a site such as Expedia. Other than that, I had no problems...

Re: anyone used the stars travel certificates?
microbob is going to be making a trip report about using this in the future i believe.
aperfect10-how much more expensive was it? are you also saying that the customer service was good? what was the name of the site they used that was more expensive than expedia? i know allot of people are wondering about using this for a yearly vacation for the family with our fpps. thanks. |

I used the $500 one to get a flight home for Xmas. Same price as the internet. Very happy!

Re: anyone used the stars travel certificates?
I used $2k of them on plane tickets to Italy. The travel agency was pretty good except the almost charged my credit card for $1k that should have come off the gift cert. I caught it and they fixed it. But make sure to check.

Re: anyone used the stars travel certificates?
The company is EPlatinum travel, the parent company of Expedia (so i'm not sure why they dont get the exact same prices as Expedia). Anyways, the variation in prices fluctuated.
We went on a week's vacation in Punta Cana, DR and priced various different resorts using E-Platinum vs Expedia. Prices varied up to $1000 on a $4500 package. I believe the lowest variation was $400 on a $3700 all-inclusive package which included airfare. None of the resorts were the same price as Expedia, so maybe the price variation is only with hotels/resorts and the flight costs are the same? |
