Old Hand #2: Count the mistakes
Here's another old micro post I like but can't find anymore. The premise was/is, I was at this table and that's all I'm saying for now. The question is how many mistakes were made, and which was the biggest.
Preflop: CO posts a big blind, 10 handed table. UTG raises, UTG1, UTG2, and MP2 all coldcall, CO calls, BB calls. Flop (12.5 SB): J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG bets, UTG1 and UTG2 fold, MP2 calls, CO raises, BB folds, UTG calls, MP2 calls. Turn (7.75BB): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG checks, MP2 checks, CO bets, UTG calls, MP2 raises, CO 3bets, UTG folds, MP2 calls. River (14.75 BB): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] MP2 bets, CO calls. MP2: 55 CO: T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

CO played the hand fine. [/ QUOTE ] Is calling preflop standard for CO with T4s? I mean, they're not even connected... [ QUOTE ] MP2 sucks [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Old Hand #2: Count the mistakes
He's getting like 9:1 in position, and you can figure BB will call a good portion of the time now, I don't know. If it's a mistake it really isn't a big one at all. |

Re: Old Hand #2: Count the mistakes
Mistakes:
With cards unknown: UTG1 coldcall. Pretty horrible, unless he has a strong multiway hand and knew half the table would coldcall. UTG2 coldcall. Not as bad. MP2 coldcall. Again not as bad, but it's similar to being mildly retarded. CO coldcall. Again, slightly less bad, but not good. SB fold. He's getting over 10:1. His fold is probably only good w/ 72. MP2's flop call is horrible. This is not the place to wait to pop the turn. MP2's turn c/r is really stupid. MP2's river donk is stupid. This is a great spot to c/r. Unless you know the CO is an absolute spewtard, he's not going to raise a donk with anything less than the nut flush. However, he's given every indication he holds the flush and will most likely bet it. Given the table conditions, I think MP2's coldcall w/ 55 was fine. Given the table conditions, I think CO's coldcall w/ T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] was bad. The biggest mistake is MP2 not raising the flop. In a pot of this size, trying to eliminate opponents is far more important than eeking an extra bet. Edit: I just noticed that CO posted. I would make this call with any two suited cards every single time. |

Re: Old Hand #2: Count the mistakes
calling 1 bet with T4s after posting in the CO (he isnt cold-calling people) is 100% standard.
limping on the button with it after a bunch of limpers is probably fine too. |

Re: Old Hand #2: Count the mistakes
MP2 reraise on the turn is questionable...yes MP2 has 10 outs to make his house with, but with many callers and betting strength from CO its likely the flush is already there...UTG & CO are left, and 4 bets are needed to get the right odds for the $ put in by the raise...anyone with a made flush or even a draw to the flush isn't going away, and the nut flush will reraise...unless there are specific reads for both players, calling would seem to be a more sound play.
