keyboard and mouse hooks
I just recently found out what these are...had NO idea. Thank you so much. Is it OK to allow hooks from logitech? It would seem that since that is the mouse I use that it would need to monitor things.

Re: keyboard and mouse hooks
Yes, I think people are getting over paranoid about hooks
If the hook is coming from a known piece of software which you trust, then most likely the hooks are needed to for the software to function properly. Juk |

Re: keyboard and mouse hooks
As an example, I'm running ProcessGuard. I didn't run it in "learning" mode, because I wanted to get a good look at everything going on.
Because of blocked keyboard hooks, the "Calculator" button on my keyboard doesn't bring up the calculator. When a program crashes, I don't get Dump error - I get a ProcessGuard popup warning me that something wants to run the dump software. A lot of stuff goes on under the hood, and most of it is totally appropriate. Even things like reading the display -- that doesn't necessarily mean that Party is taking a screenshot. They could have code which is checking whether the action buttons are being displayed properly or not. |
