Default Nl400 A2s pre-flop call

Villain1 is unknown. Villain2 is a regular playing 25/15/1.5.

Villain1 has 400, villain2 800. I got them both covered.

I play 600nl normally and I consider myself a good postflop-player, and believe that I'm propably much better than villain1 (even though he is unknown), don't really know that much about villain2.

Villain1 raises 16 from UTG, villain2 calls from CO. Folded to me in the big blind, I look down in A2 of clubs in , is a call bad?

I usually call here. People will tell me it sucks, but offer no real reason.

I think the standard reason is reverse implied odds. But I don't think it's that hard to get away from TPNK.

What's hard to get away from is AQ2 flop with two spades.

We dont want to get away from that? It stacks off AK trying to push off the FDs just as often as AQ stacks us.

I think this situation is very read dependent and given UTG Villian is an unknown I think we have to give him credit until he shows otherwise. On the other hand, I think I would like a call more if we had position on both Villian 1&2 but at worst case position on Villian #1. Someone earlier mentioned the AQ2 flop with two spades. But honestly how often are we going to get that type of flop to justify a call out of position.

What are you going to do when the flop comes A 7 10 rainbow.
We check we fully expect him to make a continuation bet even w/o an A given he was UTG raiser. Even if Villian #2 folds, are we not willing to at least see the turn. Then what do we do on the turn. Check and hope he checks behind but your check on the turn essentially shows your afraid of the A and any descent player will pick that up and put pressure on you even with KK or something of the like.

Just think we set ourselves up to lose money unnecessarily out of position with a weak holding against an unknown. With position I would probably make the call. We would stand a better chance to make a play for the pot given the info he reveals to us on the turn. IMO!

I dont understand your comment. I cant see how you cant play out the scenarios in your head prior to making the call. What are you going to do.....? I would hope that you would give some thought as to your next move prior to calling out of position with a marginal holding against an unknown. Most flops are going to miss you by a mile. But what do I know Im a land based player. Guess common sense doesnt play into your poker game!
