Re: Why I can\'t love The Matrix
The Matrix is a fun, unpretentiously pulpy, little sci-fi movie that plays with the question "how do you know your reality is real and not a dream?" To stage that question as a reality you are asked to buy a simple premise. Like most such devices, the backstory of that premise may not be terribly convincing. But that's price you pay for the ride. If the ride's good, then the price is fair. The Matrix is definitely worth the price, IMO.
The other two are a bunch of pretentious claptrap, IMO. Don't be a nit. It's okay if you don't like the movie. |

I don't like the Matrix either, but because it's kinda cheesy and the acting sucks. Not liking it for this reason seems really nitty. [/ QUOTE ] Seriously... of all the crap to have a problem with in this movie, this is kind of a ridiculous hangup. |

Re: Why I can\'t love The Matrix
Damn i opened this thread thinking it was going to be about how the underlying theme of The Matrix was Christianity. And then i get 2 paragraphs of how the physics and biology of the movie didnt make sense. Which happens in just about every movie that is made. Boo

Re: Why I can\'t love The Matrix
Slipslope,
1, the religious aspect is realted to a number of real world influences, one was a christian philospher who was French IIRC 2, to say the physics and biology is unrealistic is moronic at best. Have you seen the film? This is one of the few sci fi films or shows where i had litterally no issues with any of the fiction presented as science. Its highly grounded in real life science in point of fact. |

[ QUOTE ] Thoughts? [/ QUOTE ] i'm guessing you're a real joy to hang out with. [/ QUOTE ] Meh... this has nothing to do with my personality. I guess I just have unreasonably high standards for movies. They spend so much time and money on the special effects, I don't understand why they can't spend a few extra bucks getting the science right. |

I'm with you, Ape. I had the same problem with Soylent Green. Plus, why did people have to get to a phone to exit the matrix? [/ QUOTE ] HOLY CRAP... SOMEONE ACTUALLY AGREES WITH ME (or am I being leveled?) |

Re: Why I can\'t love The Matrix
Phill S,
I havent seen it since it first came out. Anyway it was the OP had a problem with the biology in the film. I was just disappointed that this thread was about biology and not about the Christian aspect (not that i believe that it is a "christian" movie). Do u know teh name of the french dude? |
