Unlocked Stickies....

One of the mtt posters stole an idea from HSNL called "the well" where posters ask one person any question they want to. I want to sticky one thread a week in MTTc and not lock it. Is this possible? Do any of the admins have a strong objection? It is 1 thread per week.

While the unlocked sticky rule is a little silly, especially for temporary stickies... in this case, it may be better to simply sticky a digest that links to each weeks thread, and simply update the sticky every week by adding that week's link. That way you can keep a running digest of these threads.

Since this would be a regular thing, Mat would need to approve it. I just don't know what he and Chuck would think of this.

FWIW, Jared's suggestion usually works just fine, so you might consider doing that instead if you would rather not wait for Mat to weigh in.

What we've done in every other situation is sticky a link to the thread.

First off, the Well is an SSNL thing that we started. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Second, those threads go on for a few days depending on who the wellboy is and how active he is in answering questions. They never get far from the top of a high traffic forum like SSNL. I'd imagine in the MTTc forum it'd be at the top for as long as it ran.

I see no reason to stickie it. Then, as we've done in SSNL, you can link the old wells in a FAQ or digest or whatever that is stickied.

Copy that. There was a well in SS limit too, with Dazarath, Nate, and then me. For all those threads, they didn't need to be stickied because there was enough traffic to keep it near the top throughout the whole week.
