xCy, read x choose y, is the number of ways to be dealt y cards out of a choice of x.

Number of 4-card hands: 52C4 = 52*51*50*49/4! = 270725
Number of ways to get AAbc, where b and c are not aces: 4C2 [pick two of the four aces] * 48C2 [pick two non-aces] = 4*3/2 * 48*47/2 = 6768
The ratio is then 6768/270725 = 2.499%. So yeah, 2-3%.

Macaw Boy - First think in terms of four cards, not just two.

You can be dealt AAXY, AAAY or AAAA.

If you just want AAXY,<ul type="square">6*C(48,2)/C(52,4) = 6*1128/270725 = 0.025, or about one out of forty.
If you also want to include AAAY, add to that<ul type="square">4*48/270725 = 0.00007, or about one out of 1410. This is too small to make much of a difference.
You'll be dealt AAAA 1/270725.

Those are all probabilities of being dealt hands with more than one ace.

I feel pride at my avatar being legit (except the added colour effect courtesy of gobbo).

KneeCo - Your avatar is spectacular. I'm impressed. (That's genuine, not sarcastic).
