But most annoying is Micheal Kay by far. He is extremely bias, I don't know if any other announcer loves a team like he loves the Yankees. I almost feel like he has no idea what he is talking about.

[/ QUOTE ]

HE IS EMPLOYED BY THE YANKEES. Why wouldn't he be biased? Every team's announcers are biased.

Local announcers are SUPPOSED to be homers. They are broadcasting for the HOME crowd and are employees of the club. The fact that many of these games are now broadcast coast to coast on cable doesn't mean they should abandon their homerness.

National broadcasters should be unbiased (ie douchebag Berman constantly referring to Bosox as we during the playoffs) and show no favoritism. But if a home guy isn't biased and a homer he should be fired immediately.

Not entirely true.

There should be SOME attempt at objectivity but the announcer shouldn't pretend that he really doesn't care who wins.
Of course he should get more excited when his team hits a HR and perhaps a bit disappointed when the other team does.

But a change in tone like that is different than total homering like the White Sox announcers do. They carry it WAY too far with all this "we" stuff and it has always bothered me to no end.
White Sox TV announcers take the cake in this category.

White Sox radio crew of John Rooney and Ed Farmer is really good though.

I was never a big fan of Paul Olden on TB Devil Rays broadcasts. Not sure if he's still there though.

Tom Hamilton on the Indians games never really didn't do it for me either just because I don't like his voice and style of speaking.

Michael Kay I grew to be okay with in my limited time in NY.
Not my favorite...just not my least-favorite somehow.

Chip Carey has always bugged the crap out of me whether he's with CHI or ATL.

Rooney left (StLouis) and now Farmer is with Chris Singleton. For homerism at it's absolute ultimate you must listen to Cubs radio broadcasts with Ron Santo. You will laugh so hard you will cry.

As a Chicagoian and die hard Sox fan I know of no Sox fans that dislike the TV crew. We have been with Hawk so long he is us. If the rest of the country doesn't like it I suggest don't watch or listen. I realize it's hard to listen to pure biased homerism when you aren't a homer or even a fan, but that isn't the home teams problem.

on the opposite note, the Brewers have awesome local radio and tv announcers. Although the TV guys do get overshadowed by the awesomeness of Uecker.

Didn't know Rooney left.
Also surprised that so many Sox fans like Hawk. I seriously would not have thought this.

I actually like Ron Santo.
Good listening in the early 90's when he was mostly with Thom Brennamn.

MeBenhoe - There is little doubt regarding Uecker's awesomeness.
No idea who MIL's TV guys are now. I do know that I wasn't a big fan of Vasgersian when he was there. But I actually like Vasgersian with Gabe Kaplan on NBC Heads-up championship.

You guys must have never heard the Padres announcers. They are pushed to be "homers", buts its like nothing else I have ever heard. Every close play is reported from a Padres perspective, nothing objective within miles.

Dear God. I moved to San Diego about 5 years ago and I still can't get over how bad they are. Ted Leitner (the radio guy w/ Jerry Coleman) is easily the worst announcer I have ever heard and the two jokers in the TV booth are not much better.

Jerry Coleman would crack me up when he would do a national game on CBS radio.
If he got stuck with an AL game he would have no clue who any of the players were.

Isn't Vasgersian doing the Padres games on TV now?
