Default Laptop question?

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705. It won't turn on. Every time I hit the power button 3 little icons next to the power button light up. They all look like little padlocks. The first one has the number 9 on it and stays lit. The next one has an "A" on it and blinks. The third had an arrow pointing down and blinks. I have no idea what these mean. I've never had a single problem with it before. Any help? Thanks.

Well, I know what the lights mean... num lock, caps lock, scroll lock. But why it won't turn on and why these lights are blinking when I try to turn it on is beyond me. They blink for about a minute and the the whole thing shuts off again.

Dell uses the sequencing of those lights to communicate something about what's gone wrong. The Dell website will help you decode them.
