Default NL100- 56 Flops A Straight

Hero has been playing like a maniac, and the table probably thinks I'm a donk due to my agressive (and somewhat odd) PF raising. Villain hasn't played too many hands, has limp folded to me PF (also limp called minraise then c/f the flop), bet small OOP into a multiway pot with bottom pair on an A high flop.

The other players have been playing fairly tight against aggression.

My thought here is that my I could really get wacked by a re-draw here, so I really want everyone out except for CO, who clearly has a real hand.

Help me pick a re-raise:

Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.50/$1
8 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $20.45
UTG+1: $82.95
MP1: $52
MP2: $52
CO: $60.20
Button: $120.75
Hero: $137.45
BB: $66.80

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is SB with 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
2 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, CO calls, Button folds, Hero calls, BB checks.

Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($4, 4 players)
<font color="#cc0000">Hero bets $2</font>, BB calls, MP1 calls, <font color="#cc0000">CO raises to $5</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to ????</font>

$20 and call a shove. Shove blank turns.

This sounds good to me.

You might have bet the pot on the flop, however, to make the pot bigger. I don't like the $2 lead. $4 would have been better.

Pot the flop the first time.

As played, re-raise of course.

The rational for picking $20 over $15 or $25 is . . .

(not disagreeing, but I just want the thought process that brought you to that number).

It seems like with any of these numbers we'll get it in against villain if he calls, and with all of them we'll be making it tough for the cold callers to call.

I suppose we want to make the biggest bet we think villain will call so a flush card doesn't kill our action on the turn.

I am going to have to start worrying about you 3-betting me and .5/1 now aren't I?

I would actually think 25 would be a bit better as it makes it easier to push in your stack on the turn. Am I missing something?

We cant worry about JT, if villain has it we are destined to get stacked. Similarly if villain has a set he is destined to get stacked.
Rather we should try to extract the most from mediocre hands like A9.
Given your maniac image i think you can afford to raise it to $25 here.
