How do you handle this one? (Bad conduct and worse conduct)

I was playing Limit Holdem 3 days ago in a game with the following board:

J33 73

3 players remain in the hand, not me.

Player 1 bets.

Player 2 turns over his hand, AJ and says, we may as well not bet, we are chopping this 3 ways anyway. Player 1 gets upset.

Player 1 is a quiet guy who NEVER says anything to anyone. When he got upset I knew there was going to be trouble.

I tell player 2 he is WAY OUT OF LINE and call the floor.

Player 3 raises, and player 1 reraises. Player 2 calls both bets.

Player 3 had AA, Player 1 had K3.

Player 2 then said to me, "You better keep your mouth shut or I will kick your ass right now".

I again call the floor.

The floor comes over and in a loud enough voice says to player 2, "Even though he may be annoying, you can't threaten someone. Why not take a 5 minute time out"

I was livid! I cashed in my chips and will never play there again. I also called the floorman when I got home and explained why I was upset. He did not seem to care.

His tabling his hand while there was 3 way action was enough to get him into hot water, but also threatening me for calling the floor on it? How does he not get AT LEAST an adios for the evening for that??

Was I completely out of line here?

It's people like this that make me glad I haven't associated myself with poker for a while. The jackass / decent human being frequency is just too high.

Most of the time in cash games there is really no problem that I can see with being a [censored] and showing your cards, the only person it hurts is the person who show hole cards. Player 2 got screwed because he is obviously a [censored]. What did you hope that the floor would do to him, chastise him for doing himself out of even more money?

Dude, you aren't supposed to show your hand with more than one opponent in the hand. There is something wrong with it. You have to protect all the players in the hand and in this situation, there were 3 players in the hand at the time of the douchebaggery going down. If it's heads up, fine, do what you want ( in some houses).

I'd have asked the player to leave after threatening another player and if refused, security would be escorting him out.

My reply:

If I'm not in the hand, I keep my mouth shut, and give the people who are involved in the hand (the dealer and the players with cards) the first opportunity to handle it.

As soon as I see both opponents raise and re-raise, I now know that NOBODY has a problem with this goofball's action, and I let the matter pass uneventfully.

BTW, if one player wants to kick your ass, and the floorman agrees with him, you might want to take a deep breath, and take a long, hard look at the way you conduct yourself.

P2 shouldn't do it but I keep quiet in situations like this when I'm not in the hand. If it affects me I tell them why. Generally speaking, though, I think it's better to be playing against idiots.

Yep. That's what I'd do.

I would also not open my mouth here unless I was in the pot. I usually let mistakes by others, including dealers, slide unless they are severe.

And if the quiet guy who NEVER says anything is suddenly threatening physical violence, I might worry a little about what's buried in his basement.

Floor is walking into a "he said she said" situation. The dealers may not want to get involved and jeopardize future tokes. Absent any other info, the fairest thing the floor usually can do is say "If I have trouble with the two of you again you're both going" and hope it works.

exposing your hand in a cash game is different than exposing your hole cards in a tourney. It is bad manners to expose your hand or just show one hole card in a cash game but not against the rules in most casinos.

This appears to be a STFU when not in the hand situation. Threats that the floor didn't hear and dealer doesn't confirm carry less weight and probably a 5 minute break is appropriate. I am suprised he didn't just warn the villian not to threaten the other players.

Bottom line, you called the floor and started a problem when you weren't involved in the hand and the move wasn't illegal in most casinos any way.

I think you should go tell the floor person that you have learned he handled the situation properly and appologize for being a dick.
