I've spent some time trying to figure out exactly what information PT provides and how to use it for statistical inference (interval estimation and hypothesis testing). There has been a lot of information about how many hands you need before you can conclude you are a winner. Much of information takes the form of opinions not substantiated by analysis.

The first document describes how you can use PT to determine if you are a winning player. It should be accesible to a wide range of readers. The second document provides details of the calculations. It is probably only worth looking at if you have taken an upper level stats course and you have questions about the stuff in the first document.

In that "are you a winner" link, I am confused. In the formula for Z-stat the denominator has (100-"SD/100")/sqrt(n), but your example above it uses a SD of 25 to get this denominator: (250/sqt(25000)).

Am I missing something here. This doesn't look like it adds up to me.

Its supposed to be 10*"sd/100 (in PTBB)" in the numerator of the denominator. I fixed the document. The example is correct.
