i keep getting notifications and happily see the mods have taken action. but i'm seeing ridiculous threads locked and don't understand. let's just delete them, or tell me why i'm wrong.

I'm tryign to change some posting behavior in NVG. Part of that is by letting people see what kinds of threads I'm locking, so they don't make similar threads. Are you referring to any locked NVG threads?

If we do make a Mod Trashcan forum, it'd be nice for all the mods to have control of it. That way with icky threads, we could move in, edit at our leisure, and then move back.

agreed

if there's an offensive post in a thread that gets quoted 20 times but we want to rescue it for whatever reason it'd be nice to have a place where we can do that and people can't see the thread while that's happening

these are the most common, yes. but there are plenty in the strat forums as well. it's not a big deal to me, and perhaps i'm wrong. i just think we have more than enough "examples" of stupidity and they don't seem to be a deterrent.

durron and others,

i have zero problems with a mod dump. we'll make that happen. remind me.

that's not the point

the point is:

1) to have a temporary place to put things for editing out certain portions of them
2) to keep records of why, for example, respected posters are being banned

no one is actually planning to sift through it looking for rescuable threads
