Default Double Barrel better than check raise?, $200 NL

Villain is bmxreed46, 18/14/2.5 over 200 hands. Is double barreling this turn better here? Or check call / check fold depending on bet size? I think villain is definitely capable of floating here and also capable of folding a marginal hand like some random nine.

this is a pretty good flop for villain to float. This turn is great if he were floating so a c/r cant be too bad. On the other hand, if he shoves on you calling is spew/it sucks because you just put in $100.

i think betting again is better as that way you dont have to put in 100 to have the desired effect.

Yeah. I guess my logic was if he is floating with air I win more with a check raise, if he has an actual hand I have more fe with a check raise bc it is a lot stronger than just leading. If villain has a marginal hand with showdown value I get a free card and a decent shot at a likely 15 outer plus some possible scare cards.

Downside is it gets a lot more expensive when villain actually has something he likes and I can't fold if he shoves. I'm just not sure how to weight all this versus villains likey range and action to determine which is better.

this isnt about saving money by double barrelling instead of c/r here its more can you or have you done this with big hands before. Unless proven otherwise vs most regulars this is almost always a decent draw type hand and rarely and overpair. You usually dont want to risk going c/c on the turn on a lot of boards so u usally bet the turn. If he floats a lot and isnt a decent hand reader this is fine otherwise id expect him to look u up with a hand like 66 here

Well I would do this with an overpair sometimes but villain doesn't necessarily know that.

I don't like it in general, like it less against him. Also, I doubt that you play overpairs on this board that often vs someone like him.

Maybe against a bluff happy idiot with no concept of pot control but not him, not on this board. Also, he has TT-QQ, maybe 88 here a lot and he's pretty much never folding except on the rare occasion he dumps 88.

So does that mean you like a double barrel here or is that bad too?

If hero double barrels here what rivers are we all triple barreling since the board is so draw heavy and villain can probably call semilightly.

You can definitely rep a big hand here if you've taken this line with overpairs before. I like the play, but whether it's better than a 2barrel depends on the dynamics between you and the villain.
