Default who is the worst nfl head coach?

my vote goes to marvin lewis after burning his last timeout rather than challenging the fumble and spot of the ball on the crucial 3rd down vs the browns. no, they didnt waste the to minutes earlier. he called to immediately after the braylon fumble when he coulda challenged.

also, last yr vs pitt, he burned a to (they had 1 left after) to ice the pitt kicker when the bungles still had 1 min left to drive for a winning fg.

its time his ineptitude is uncovered.

ldo. victor, even if lewis isn't exactly the best at in-game strategy in terms of clock management/timeouts, he's got a pretty good team and doesn't screw them up. edwards is bad at this stuff and his team sucks.

tom coughlin has to be up there - he has made some colossally poor challenges/timeouts over the years.

i would equate costing your team 1.5 min and 60 yrds of field position at the end of game screwing up.

likewise, unequivically wasting a timeout when your team will need to go about 60 yrds in 1 min is indeed screwing up. big time.

I think there's hardly a coach whose name won't end up in this thread...

In the playoffs, I'd rather a 5 year old coach than Marty Schottenheimer

edwards hired a clock management coach one year for the jets and the team still burned timeouts unnecessarily and made simple playcalling mistakes late in halves.

lewis 'burned' that timeout vs. pittsburgh on the presumption that icing the kicker works. it worked yesterday in denver! it's stupid, yes.

to me what is way worse are calling plays down the middle of the field/screen passes with 0 timeouts and the like. i don't watch enough of the bengals to see if they do this but my guess is they don't.

1. Whoever said Marty is bad, even confining it to the playoffs, you are wrong.

2. Romeo Crenell ftw. This guy is a complete disaster.

All coaches have their flaws. Prior to Belichick wound up with the Patriots people considered him the worsr coach. Not because of his knowledge of X's and O's, he seriously lacked people skills.

From Wiki

[ QUOTE ]
Cleveland Browns
From 1991 until 1995, Belichick was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. During his tenure in Cleveland he compiled a 36-44 record, leading the team to its most recent playoff game win in 1994. Based on his performance, many fans in Cleveland think of him as an uncommunicative, dictatorial and arrogant coach who made many questionable moves, including benching and then cutting much-beloved quarterback Bernie Kosar in 1993 in order to replace him with journeyman Vinny Testaverde, a move that sparked great controversy in the area. In Belichick's last season in Cleveland the Browns finished 5-11. In November of that year Browns owner Art Modell announced he would move the team to Baltimore after the season which cut the legs out from under the already struggling team.[1]

[/ QUOTE ]

The next year they hired Brian Billick and won a Superbowl with a team he engineered but could not "coach".

Right now this season I would say Coughlin has done the worst job because it appears his team quit on him.

The Giants players that voted Strahan captain basically spit in Coughlin's face.
